High up on my bucket list was a trip to the Antiques Road Show and it was great to meet up with three old university friends at Compton Verney last week. A fascinating day out.

I took the WW1 German helmet that my grandfather had brought back from France in 1918. Bill Harriman was most informative. What I have is an artillery helmet c.1910-14. The regimental details are missing. In its present condition it is valued at £750.00. It is so small, we had always presumed that it was a child’s but the Germans wore their helmet at the back of their heads.
